When to buy appliances at the best price

Updated : July 2026

Appliances are one of the categories where the timing of the purchase moves the bill the most. The same washing machine can cost €150 more or less depending on the period. Here's when to buy at the best price.

Large appliances (washer, fridge, dishwasher)

Prices are often lowest in June, before summer sales, and again in autumn (October–November) when new models arrive and old ones are cleared. Conversely, October sometimes shows the highest list prices before discounts.

Small appliances (coffee maker, vacuum, food processor)

Early October and Black Friday are excellent windows. Winter sales (January) also clear last year's models.

The rule that's worth gold

  • Aim for end of generation. A model about to be replaced drops, often nearly identical to the new one.
  • Don't trust the store's "was" price: check the real history.
  • Compare several retailers: the gap between sellers often exceeds the "discount".

The simple method

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to buy appliances?
For large appliances, June (before summer sales) and autumn are often cheapest. For small appliances, early October and Black Friday.
Should I wait for Black Friday for appliances?
Not necessarily. On large appliances, June sometimes beats Black Friday. Best is to track the history of your target model rather than betting on a single date.
How do I pay less for a washing machine?
Target an end-of-generation model, compare retailers and watch the price with an alert. UniverTrack pings you as soon as the price gets genuinely low.
