Cyber Monday 2026 is Monday, November 30, 2026. It always falls on the Monday after U.S. Thanksgiving, which is the fourth Thursday of November (November 26 in 2026), so it comes three days after Black Friday on Friday, November 27. Many retailers outside the U.S., including in the UK and Europe, use the same date.

When is Cyber Monday 2026?

The date isn't set by any retailer. It follows a fixed rule:

1. Thanksgiving is set by U.S. federal law as the fourth Thursday of November: Thursday, November 26, 2026.
2. Black Friday is the next day: Friday, November 27, 2026.
3. Cyber Monday is the following Monday: Monday, November 30, 2026.

Because Thanksgiving can land anywhere from November 22 to 28, Cyber Monday always falls between November 26 and December 2. The name dates back to 2005, when Shop.org, part of the National Retail Federation, used it in a press release after noticing a spike in online shopping on the Monday after Thanksgiving.

"Cyber Weekend" (or Black Friday weekend) usually means the stretch from Friday to Monday, while "Cyber Week" describes promotions that run across the whole week. Here are the key dates for 2026:

In practice, many retailers no longer stick to these five days. Sales often start the week before Thanksgiving, and some offers stay live for a few days after Cyber Monday. Start and end dates vary by store, so always check the terms of each deal.

What about "Cyber Friday"? It isn't an official event. People sometimes use it for the online side of Black Friday, which in 2026 means Friday, November 27.

Cyber Monday vs Black Friday: what's the difference?

They're part of the same shopping event, but they started out differently:

• Black Friday grew out of in-store shopping in the U.S. and covers everything: clothing, home, toys, appliances and electronics.
• Cyber Monday was an online shopping day from the start, and it's still closely associated with computers, electronics and digital services.

Today the line is blurry. Most online stores run their offers over the whole weekend, and Monday often works as a "last chance" day, sometimes with new deals, sometimes just an extension of Friday's. Neither day is reliably cheaper than the other, so judge each product on its own price history.

What goes on sale on Cyber Monday?

Discounts vary widely by product and retailer, so there's no honest "average" to quote. The categories that tend to come up again and again are:

• Computers: laptops, monitors, storage and accessories. See when to buy a laptop.
• TVs and audio: televisions, headphones, speakers and soundbars.
• Smart devices: smartwatches, tablets, e-readers and smart speakers, often pushed hard by the big platforms for their own brands.
• Game consoles, games and accessories.
• Software and subscriptions: antivirus, VPNs, cloud storage and apps, which fits Cyber Monday's online roots.
• Small appliances: robot vacuums, air fryers and coffee machines.

Being featured doesn't mean a product is at its lowest price of the year. Some models drop further at other times, for example during seasonal sales or when a newer generation launches.

How to spot fake Cyber Monday deals

The tricks are the same as on Black Friday. Watch out for:

• Inflated "was" prices: a big percentage off a list price almost nobody actually paid.
• Raise-then-cut pricing: the price creeps up in the weeks before, then "drops" back to where it normally sits.
• Fake urgency: countdown timers, "only 3 left" banners, and "lightning deals" that come back the next day.
• Special-edition models: a product that looks like the one you wanted but with lower specs.

Rules on reference prices depend on where you shop. In the U.S., the FTC's Guides Against Deceptive Pricing say a former price used in a comparison should be one the item was genuinely offered at for a reasonably substantial period of time. Under EU rules, applied in France since May 2022, the reference price for a discount must generally be the seller's lowest price over the previous 30 days (see our guide to the 30-day price rule). Cyber Monday 2026 checklist: how to prepare

The best Cyber Monday purchases are planned in October, not at 11 p.m. on the day. Here's how:

1. Write your list now: only things you actually need, with the exact model (version, storage, color).
2. Set a target price for each item, the number below which buying makes sense to you.
3. Note the usual price today and keep an eye on it through November, so you know what "normal" looks like.
4. Compare the same product at several stores, including shipping costs and delivery times.
5. Check who's actually selling on marketplaces: sold and shipped by whom, with what warranty and return policy?
6. Set up alerts instead of refreshing product pages all weekend.
7. On the day, compare the deal to the history, not to the crossed-out price. If it isn't a genuine drop, skip it. There will be other chances.
