Prime Big Deal Days 2026: dates, how to prepare and how to spot real deals

Prime Big Deal Days 2026, the October Prime event known in France as "Jours Flash Prime", takes place on Tuesday October 6 and Wednesday October 7, 2026: Amazon announced the dates on September 15, 2026, for 22 countries including France and Belgium. The event lasts 48 hours and is reserved for Prime members. The "October 7–8" dates you may still see online belong to the 2025 edition. Since 2022 the event has always taken place in October, over two days (a Tuesday and a Wednesday).

This guide covers what is confirmed, the calendar of past editions, what Prime membership costs on Amazon.fr and a practical method to prepare your purchases without falling for fake discounts.

When is Prime Big Deal Days 2026?

Amazon has confirmed Prime Big Deal Days 2026 for October 6 and 7, that is 48 hours of Prime-exclusive deals, in 22 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom.

In the US, the event starts on October 6 at 12:01 am Pacific time. At the time of this update, Amazon France has not yet published its own announcement, so the start time on amazon.fr has not been specified. Amazon also says Prime members can get early deals before the event begins.

Worth knowing: Prime Day 2026, the other major Prime event of the year, ran in France from June 23 to 26, 2026, earlier than in previous years.

Three weeks to go: what to do now

• Build your list today and note each product's current price: that record is your benchmark on October 6.
• Watch for price rises before the event: a price that climbs in the weeks beforehand and then "drops" during Prime Big Deal Days may simply be returning to where it was.
• Keep the 30-day rule in mind: the struck-through price must be the lowest price of the 30 days before the reduction, but an older increase is not covered. See our guide to the 30-day rule.

Past October Prime event dates

The October event has changed names over the years, but the concept is the same: 48 hours of deals reserved for Prime members, ahead of the holiday season. Dates below are for Amazon.fr, which followed the international calendar.

In France, the 2024 edition started at 12:01 am local time on day one, and the 2025 edition ended on Wednesday October 8 at 11:59 pm. The 2026 edition sticks to the usual pattern (a Tuesday and a Wednesday in October), even though Amazon moved Prime Day to June.

Do you need Prime to get the deals?

Yes. Prime Big Deal Days offers are exclusive to Prime members. Non-members can often see the products but do not get the deal price at checkout.

• Price: during the 2025 edition, Amazon listed Prime in France at €6.99 a month or €69.90 a year for mainland France, with a reduced student rate (Prime Student). Check the price shown on amazon.fr when you sign up.
• Free trial: Amazon generally offers eligible new customers a 30-day free trial. Note the end date if you do not want to keep it.
• Do the maths: a membership taken only for this event pays off only if your genuine savings exceed its cost. For one small purchase, that may not be the case.

Are October Prime deals actually good?

Some are: Amazon's own devices and a range of tech, home and toy products regularly show genuine drops during these events. But a "Prime deal" badge does not guarantee a low price.

In France and across the EU, a struck-through price must be the lowest price the seller charged in the 30 days before the reduction (in France, article L112-1-1 of the Consumer Code, in force since May 28, 2022). Our guide to the 30-day rule explains how it works. The rule has limits:

• a price raised more than 30 days before the event can later be presented as "reduced";
• some pages highlight a recommended retail price instead of the price actually charged;
• on the marketplace, a third-party seller is not Amazon, and prices vary from one offer to the next;
• a product may have been cheaper during June's Prime Day than in October.

How to prepare for Prime Big Deal Days now

Most bad buys happen in a rush: 48 hours, countdown timers and lightning deals that vanish. So the preparation happens beforehand.

1. Write a short list: the exact products you need (model, capacity, colour), including holiday gifts you already have in mind.
2. Note the current price and its history for each product, so you know the usual price and the recent low.
3. Set a target price for each product. That number decides, not the percentage on the banner.
4. Turn on reminders: Amazon lets you get notified about upcoming deals on wish list items through its app. Useful, but those reminders do not tell you whether the price is historically low.
5. Watch for early deals: in past editions, some offers went live before the two official days, and Amazon is again announcing early deals for 2026.
6. Check the seller and the final price (delivery, warranty) before you pay.

October Prime deals or Black Friday: should you wait?

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday November 27, followed by Cyber Monday on November 30. There is no universal rule about which event is cheaper: depending on the product, the October price is sometimes matched or beaten in November, sometimes not.

Two simple cases:

• The October price hits your target: buy. Stock can run out by November, and returns give you room to change your mind (a legal 14-day withdrawal period for online purchases in the EU, often extended by Amazon for holiday-season orders under its own terms).
• The price is "reduced" but above its recent low: wait, and keep tracking the product through Black Friday.
